WP5 - DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM (DSS) FOR MANAGING RISKS FOR A RESILIENT WINE SUPPLY CHAIN

Milestone: Decision Support System (DSS) for managing risks for a resilient wine supply chain

Objective

WP5 aims at constructing a simulation model which could be the basis of the decision support system and at analyzing Business
Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans in a random environment. The impact of the disaster event occurrence depends on the
specific system configuration, which can be defined according to the BCP but can, however, vary over time due to the operating conditions. These conditions, often uncertain, can also affect the effectiveness of the countermeasures put in place, which, although suitably designed, may not fully produce the desired effects.

Methodology

The DSS will use a simulation model to predict risks and assess the impact of adverse events across the entire wine supply chain, from cultivation to reverse logistics. This model evaluates Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans, identifying effective countermeasures. By studying different scenarios, the DSS aims to enhance the wine supply chain’s resilience and continuity, mitigating potential disruptions.

Tasks

Task 5.1. Simulation model design which allow the identification of the system components and input data, the schematization and implementation of the model and the validation.

Task 5.2. Design and execution of the experiments which provides the factors and levels for the configuration of the scenarios
submitted to experimentation and execution. The change in operating conditions for each scenario will allow for a more in-depth
exploration of the resilience of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.

Task 5.3. Evaluation of the performance of the BCPs and DRPs in the different operational scenarios. A user-friendly dashboard will be built allowing to identify the potential anomalies in the processes, report the related alerts and provide the most coherent plan based on the expected scenario (DSS).
